certainty isn't everything
I loved this movie; such a sweet light touch, so gentle but quicksilver. the trick i think is to not assign unnecessary weight to the significance of the production. This is theatre on film, drawing room comedy with perhaps less critical mass shuffling players on and off stage, and more fun in following their thinking. gender politics pretty respectful, a story mired in love not hate, its kind of a shame it rests on such bitter vetch as adultery. Melvyn Douglas makes of his insurance salesman someone fundamentally decent. Those kind of acting skills, charisma, reach, whatever, belong to a simpler imaginary - one Ernst Lubitsch provides with effortless grace [or at least that's the trick of it - hands, when seen, float lightly]

It's no Ninochka
You can't better Ernst Lubitsch for screwball comedy, but somehow, although it has it's moments, this one doesn't quite come off.
Merle Oberon is miscast and we should have seen more of ace wisecracker Eve Arden.
One that got away from Ernst, but still worth watching.

A light romantic comedy. It's well-acted, well-paced and, even though it was made in '41, words like "psychobabble", "metrosexual" and "shopaholic" apply.
Not exactly Sex in the City, mostly because it's funnier and the characters are interesting.

Prince Vegeta says: "Download this or else!!". Since Vegeta is known to destroy entire cities just for fun, we really should please him.
It can't be worse than "Meet the Spartans"!
